Tricia and Angela Made Our Trip Easy

By Crata C | Trip to Eu, France

We returned last week from a dream trip to France. The path began in April when Vanessa Mckuin with National Public Radio local stations KLRE-KUAR called to say we had won a trip to Paris and Lyon. It took several weeks to believe this to be true! Peacock Travel Agency donated the trip to KLRE-KUAR's spring fundraiser and we were selected in the drawing. We decided to travel in September and were especially fortunate when weather and crowds cooperated nicely. Our trip began September 9 when we flew to Paris. A driver met us at CDG Airport to take us directly to our hotel, Le Belmont. This lovely boutique hotel is in the 16th Arrondissement near the Champs Elysees and just a few blocks from the George V metro stop. This made getting around very easy especially after becoming familiar with the Metro. During our five nights in Paris thanks to the assistance from Peacock's professional staff we witnessed the beauty of Paris in architecture and gardens, art in five of the world’s best museums, and a delightful dinner overlooking the Eiffel Tower when the lights were twinkling!

On Sunday, we took a first class train to Lyon thanks to Peacock Travel. After enjoying the train ride, we were met by our guide, Susan Leger, Angela Sortor’s mom. Angela works with Tricia at Peacock Travel. Susan either drove us or guided us through every detail of our trip in Lyon. We stayed at her AirB&B in St. Didier, a charming community just north of Lyon. We very much enjoyed seeing the Fourviere, Vieux Ville and Bellecour in Lyon. We knew Lyon was known as a gastronomic capital. However, we couldn’t have imagined what delights awaited our taste buds. Three side trips enhanced our trip. We spent one night in a special hotel in Beaune, the center of the Burgundy wine region. and two nights in Annecy, a beautiful town on Lac Annecy. Susan took us to and from the Lyon train station, Part Dieux. She also took us to the walled, medieval town of Perouges which is preserved as part museum, part specially shops, and is even still partially inhabited.

Tricia, Angela, and Susan helped make our trip easy. All transportation, private transport, tickets and hotel accommodations were just perfect. We could not have asked for a better trip! We thank Peacock Travel for making it possible and for its support of KLRE-KUAR! Without doubt our appreciation will grow as will relive the experience in many wonderful memories.
